JUNETEENTH

EVENT

JUNETEENTH AND HOW YOU CAN HELP!

What’s this about?

N.Finite Hands will be hosting a book drive in celebration of Juneteenth. The focus and messaging will center on black experiences in America, racial injustice, racial inequality and present opportunities to open dialogues across these issues.

Why does it matter?

Books present an opportunity to have difficult conversations with people in approachable ways. It also opens discussions with those who don’t experience racial injustice in their everyday lives but have to be a part of the solution. As we have seen in the past weeks, there is still work that needs to be done to bring understanding around these issues and this responsibility belongs to everyone. It is impossible to explain something that you don’t know about or have no experience with. It can be hard to empathize with something you don’t understand. It’s impossible to address issues or change behavior you don’t recognize.

What are we asking?

We are asking for a variety of books covering these topic. From children’s books to identify and emotionally prepare for these conversations. To adult books to shine light on systems in place that need to be challenged and addressed to create a more equal society. The full range of these conversations are necessary to truly give EVERY American an equal opportunity to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

How can you help?

Please donate in an effort to move forward as a community and a nation with education and resources. There are multiple ways to donate: You can buy a book directly on the link below, donate directly to our organization, or bring a book to the event that impacted your education and understanding of systemic racism. If you cannot donate at this time, please leave a book recommendation in the form for others to seek out to expand understanding. We truly appreciate all efforts! Black lives and Black futures are depending on moving these conversations forward. Thank you for your support and dedication to this important issue.
